Questions from the riverbank
A little help
as you grow.
For the moment when the spring is quiet, the seed is still a tree, or you simply want to know where to begin.

Before you begin
What kind of game is this?
A single-player browser world builder about restoration. Shape land and water, grow living homes, compose gardens and help a small community become self-sufficient. It combines hands-on building with gentle progress while time passes. There is no combat or competitive ranking.
Can anyone play it now?
The playable build currently has founder-only access. The introduction and guides are open to everyone. An Academy account does not unlock the game yet. The preview link opens the separate game site; only its permitted founder account can enter. Public play has not opened yet.
See the current access statusDo I need an app, a powerful computer, or a subscription?
The game runs in a web browser with 3D graphics enabled and does not need an app installation. Mouse controls are easiest for precise building; touch controls are included. Device performance varies, and phone performance is still being evaluated. Lighter graphics and Still view are available. There is no in-game purchase system in this preview; no public pricing or subscription offer has been announced.
What should I build first?
Begin beside the existing river. Make a dry bank, plant one Jotunfræ living home, add a watered kitchen garden and a stone workshop, then connect them with paths. Let them grow or choose Rest a while. You do not need to reshape the whole world first.

Building a living place
I added springs. Why is the water barely changing?
Each spring replenishes toward its own water level. If the basin is already at that level, adding another spring may make little difference. Use Shape → Observe near the source. Dig an outlet channel to give water somewhere lower to go, then choose Settle water. Surface ripples keep moving, but water redistribution advances after edits or Settle water.
How do I remove water or make a dry bank?
Use Shape → Drain to brush water away. Pause the springs in Help if you want a basin to stay dry; otherwise they may replenish it when water settles. Raise or Terrace can make building ground, and Smooth softens its edges. Landscape undo restores the earlier land, water and spring state.
Why is my home still a little tree? What is the stone for?
The Jotunfræ seed grows through planted, awakening, rooted and room-growing stages before becoming a home. Select it to read its current needs; nearby water and dry ground matter. Rest a while advances growth if the community is not paused. Stone workshop is a separate building for tools, materials and shared stores.
Why are residents or harvests not arriving?
A mature home, reachable food and water support residents. Harvest deliveries also need neighbors, a connected established workshop and room in its stores. Check the selected building’s explanation and Shared stores. Flooded paths or bridges with changed banks can break a route. Full stores pause deliveries; they do not erase stored materials.
How do I welcome wildlife?
Flowers beside a mature watered kitchen garden provide butterfly habitat. Shallow water beside dry banks supports dragonflies. A mature home, a nearby watered garden and two thriving plantings support songbirds. Open The other residents for the current conditions and a way to look at each habitat. Wildlife gathers over a few quiet minutes.
How do I meet Maren and learn new plants?
Open Garden → The seedkeeper’s satchel. Its collection explains which habitat invites each planting. After a suitable habitat and two minutes of unpaused simulation time, Maren offers up to two plantings. Choose one to learn; the other can return later. Offers wait for you. Learned plants can be used repeatedly for the usual garden-piece cost, and each valley keeps its own collection.
Is there a goal? Can I keep building afterward?
The returning water garden has four chapters: compose a garden, gather shared supplies, welcome wildlife and restore its observatory. The larger planetary journey connects six self-sufficient regions and can lift their protective sky. Both leave the world open for continued building. You can spend time arranging one beautiful corner whenever you prefer.

Saving, quiet time and returning
Can I see my world in the Academy Compass?
Yes. In the game, choose Compass, then Bring to Compass. Review the report in the Academy and choose Keep in this tab. Compass → My world shows recovery, neighbors, light, wildlife, learned plantings, the water garden chapter and six region summaries. You can pin a small HUD beside the movable compass. Reports are snapshots with a capture time; bring a new one to update the numbers. They stay in this browser tab, separate from your account, Passport and game save, and you can clear them. The copyable report link contains these game numbers, so anyone you give it to can read them.
Use the world HUDHow do saves work?
Changes save to the game account as you make them. Watch for the saved status before leaving. If a save fails, keep the page open and use Retry; avoid editing the same world in two tabs. The game save is separate from your Academy profile, Passport and journal. Signing in to the Academy does not transfer or unlock a game save.
Can I undo a mistake?
Shape remembers eight landscape changes. Grow and Garden share twelve construction changes, including pieces, paths and planting styles. Those histories survive reopening. Construction undo does not rewind earned plant discoveries, field notes, wildlife, expedition milestones or elapsed growth. Removing a building or garden piece returns three quarters of its light cost.
Will I lose progress if I leave? Does it work offline?
There is no missed-day penalty or daily streak. Eligible growth catches up for at most eight hours of elapsed time, within the world’s limits. Paused communities remain paused. Saving and reopening require a connection; offline saving is not supported. Existing planting offers do not expire while you are away.
Can I build with music or just watch?
Yes. Choose Listen to start the original soundscape, adjust music and nature separately, and try dawn, day, dusk or night. Follow this place makes nature sound respond to the area you are watching. Quiet view reduces the interface; Views saves up to six camera-and-light compositions per region. Timed quiet sessions and their ending bell are optional. Sound starts only when you choose Listen.
How does it connect to the Academy and AutoGeniusOS?
The game explores the Academy’s themes through tending a fictional world: attention, patience, interdependence and repair. Its Journey doorway can open the Academy or AutoGeniusOS and let you copy a note you deliberately chose. Accounts, game progress, Passport markers and sound sessions do not sync automatically. You do not need to read the book or complete an Academy expedition to understand the game.
Does the game assess my recovery or personality?
No. Habitat progress describes the fictional world. Optional stories and field questions leave room for your own interpretation; they do not score, type or diagnose you. You decide whether any reflection belongs in a conversation or your own writing.
Can I play with other people?
This version is single-player. The residents you see belong to the game’s simulation. Multiplayer, visits to another player’s world and shared building are not available.
