A note from the Founder’s Workshop “I never had a straight line. I had a galaxy.” I did not arrive at the Academy by following a straight road. I spent a lifetime building, fixing, carrying, preparing, and creating. I served in Army artillery, worked with heavy equipment and manufacturing systems, fabricated and repaired what stopped working, built networks and automation, led technology and operations, made music and images, designed websites and experiences, worked in immersive attractions, corn mazes, and butterfly-farm education, and cared for animals. Each world looked separate while I was living inside it. In time, I began to see that they had all been teaching me how relationships become systems—and how systems either serve life or quietly ask life to serve them. Long before those jobs had names, wonder was already at work. I did not grow up with expensive equipment or a carefully designed path. I had family, a community, an imagination, and a world full of raw material. A puddle could hold an afternoon. A stick could become almost anything. That early way of participating in reality never left; it simply disappeared beneath responsibility from time to time. I also lived inside identities that mattered deeply: husband, father figure helping raise five boys, provider, fixer, builder, and the person expected to know what to do next. The love inside those roles was real. So was the loss when much of the familiar structure changed. I had spent years living by an equation that never balanced: do more, become more, and perhaps finally be enough. When the names stopped holding the whole story, I had to learn that contribution is participation, not proof of worth; that preparation can help without granting control; and that belonging does not require a job description. Recovery gave me a practice for returning. Not a polished before-and-after story, and not a certificate of completion—a practice. Return to honesty. Return to other people. Return to accountability, amends, boundaries, service, and the next right action. Return to today when the mind volunteers for disasters that have not happened. I still build and serve, but I am learning not to use doing as evidence that I deserve to exist. My worth is not on trial. Neither is yours. That lesson also changed where I looked for the sacred. I once imagined it might live in a special state, a perfect understanding, or some future version of me who had finally figured everything out. Instead, I kept finding it in manure that needed shoveling, animals that needed care, another person who needed listening, an apology that needed making, a meeting that needed chairing, a machine that was actually broken, a boundary that needed keeping, and coffee tasted slowly enough to notice. Reality is the spiritual practice. Inner Genius Academy grew from that recognition. People are not unfinished projects waiting to earn permission to be alive. Every person carries forms of intelligence that cannot be reduced to a score, and many people already carry the signal they are searching for. It may be difficult to hear beneath survival, shame, obligation, achievement, inherited roles, old fear, or an identity whose season has ended. The Academy exists to help a traveler notice what is already alive, test it honestly against reality, and return more fully to ordinary life. This place is not a monument to a finished founder. I am still recovering, learning, serving, making mistakes, needing other people, and being surprised by ordinary life. I may have built the first gates, but the Academy becomes real whenever a traveler recognizes something true and carries that recognition back into relationship, work, rest, repair, play, and the next honest step. A good system should leave a person more human and more free, not more dependent on the system. That is why I built the Academy. That is why it is still growing. And that is why I remain here not only as its founder, but as a fellow traveler. - Jody Sachse Read the longer Founder’s Workshop story at innergeniusacademy.com/founder. End of record.
